I don’t know about on the horse. Here’s for off the horse: jump rope, squats, lunges, mountain climber, squad thrust. Good luck!

The excercise called “planks” can help strengthen your whole body for riding. What you do is get in the position you would for push-ups, but rest on your elbows. Now you should basically be supported by your toes and elbows only. Try and hold the position for two minutes.

What I do is this:
On the horse:
Laps around the ring at a walk, trot, or canter without stirrups.
Off the horse:
Leg lifts
Work out at the gym
Thigh-crunchers
Swim
Run

any kind of squats, try streching your calves (stand on the edge of stair and put all you weight on your ankles and the push up and down), ride bareback, go on runs, and eat healthy!

Standing in your stirrups is a really good one. Stand straight up and push your pelvis over the pommel a little and keep your legs right at the girth. Do this at all gates and over trotpoles. If you jump you can even try over small fences.
It teaches you balance plus helps you get your legs stronger and in the correct place.
Run. running bulds endurance and muscles, specially in the thigh and leg. Running up hills and on varied footings helps a lot as well.
Run in the ring sometimes the ddep footing makes it tough but build strong legs.

Ok on the horse:
Ride in two point alot. English or western. Its great for your position, leg muscles, and balance
No stirrups and ******** work well two.
Also, “scissors” are good for balance and strength. Alternating legs every 10 strides of so, reach one leg out to the front of your horse and another out to the back. Its also goood for flexibility even though it looks very odd:P
Off the horse,
wall sits, squats, lunges etc are good, especially for thighs.
But in riding it is especially important to have strong calf muscles.
So calf muscles, I stand on a stair and I move up and down on one foot so my heel goes below the edge of the stair to like i am on tippy toes. alternate legs after 30 or so and repeat:P you can reallly feel it after!!
Also, just running up and down the stairs are great too!!
Good luck!

Lots of ******** posting trot and no stirrup work. You could even take your stirrups off for a day if you want.

ive had to do the exact same thing,
my riding instructor told me to put a ball in between my feet
and sit on the couch or chair with legs hanging off
and move them up and down you should feel the slight pain in your legs
but it really works..!!
